Geiranger Village

Highlight • Settlement

A beautiful fiord.

At the beginning of July, unbelievable masses of water fall from the mountains into the valley with a huge roar. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Storfossen Waterfall (Geiranger)

Highlight • Waterfall

Beautiful waterfall in the middle of Geiranger, tons of water and you definitely get wet on the way up!!
Otherwise super nice and worth a 'climb'

Very nice vantage point, which can be reached relatively easily on foot from the village. Can also be built into a circular route. Up the road and back down over the waterfall.

Stairway Along the Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

It starts in the town and runs directly up the river.
The destination is the fjord center.
It takes about 45 minutes.
There are about 300 steps.

There were really a lot of steps. How did they go down, it's a little bit on your knee.

Of course, one is not alone at this highlight, but it is worthwhile in any case to look at this waterfall. For fans of spectacular photos the chance to go behind the waterfall.

Today the MS Amera took us through the Geiranger Fjord to the town of the same name. We went ashore in the first tender boat. The Storsaeterfossen was our destination. On the "Waterfall Trail" we went uphill 640m. Endless steps and steps. But it was worth it. You can walk under the waterfall on a narrow path.

Strenuous tour. Lots of steps but a great panorama.

Storsæterfossen - a must see in Geiranger
The climb to Storsæterfossen waterfall is strenuous but worth it. Endless stone stairs lead up to the starting point of the waterfall, breathtaking views accompany the way. Sometimes the path is muddy in between, slippery in places. Sturdy shoes with profile are therefore strongly recommended. We took our time at the top of …

The path begins at the harbor and leads past the waterfall directly below the village. It then goes steadily uphill on a path paved with large natural stone slabs and countless steps. About halfway along the path there is a farm with small snacks and drinks. From there the path continues until just before the waterfall. Here there is a …

With many hikes they say "the path is the goal" - with this hike I really have to say "the goal is the goal".

The Storsaeterfossen is really beautiful and the fact that you can walk under it is "unique" and a wonderful moment.

Showing Translation

Storsæterfossen is a waterfall in the municipality of Stranda, in the village of Geiranger. The waterfall is a popular tourist destination, as you can also walk behind the waterfall.

Showing Translation

The walk is a lot easier and shorter if you start from the farm.
Don't forget to go behind the waterfall!
The loop back down was quite difficult, not a very good path, so you could either return the same way or go up the difficult part.

Showing Translation

The tour is shown as very easy (green) to easy (blue). For flat lands and when it rains, I would say medium to difficult.
