The path on the dyke near List is easy to walk. You have a wonderful view of the North Sea bay formed by the elbow and, with good visibility, of the Danish island of Rømø. On the land side you can see a landscape of shifting dunes, heath and salt marshes. This landscape, also known as Listland, has been privately owned by a community of heirs for centuries, which arose from the town's two Stavenplatzes, the Osthof and the Westhof.
