Sea Caves of Cape Greco

Highlight • Cave

Well-known rocky coast with caves near Kavo Greko. The bay with the crystal-clear water is a popular photo motif, even for wedding couples. However, caution is required when climbing, as the sandstone is very sharp-edged. At sunset, locals and tourists gather here. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of rubbish lying around, although rubbish bins are set up. I can only appeal to all visitors to dispose of their belongings properly.

A small bay that is hard to find but also offers a way to get into the sea.

Cross at Cape Greco

Highlight • Monument

The often-encountered small sacred monuments – like this one here at Cap Greco with a wide view of the Mediterranean Sea – remind the devout observer of the death of Jesus Christ, which He took upon Himself for the redemption of mankind; but they are also, at the same time, a testament to the faith of those people who donated such a cross. Christiane Völkel commented on Jesus' sentence, handed down several times in the Bible, "Your faith has helped you," in a publication as follows: "Faith is not life insurance: therefore, this statement by Jesus must be about more than health and well-being. In my view, it is about understanding through faith and being open to the experience that God and His work are greater than our idea of happiness in life. I can and want to believe that He holds me, carries me, gives me support, and stands by me in the good and difficult hours of life."

Well-known excursion destination at Cape Greko. The rock bridge is locked and may not be entered. Pretty nice to look at, but I was a bit disappointed as the bridge is rather small and party boats and ships are constantly parked under it.

Ayíoi Anargíroi Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

Small, white chapel right on the cliff and with a wonderful view of the turquoise water. This is a popular location for wedding shoots and there is a kiosk in the parking lot that sells water and snacks. A staircase leads to the rock caves by the sea.

Nice hike along the coast. You can forget about the way back through the country. So back on the same route.

So, now a short information about the tour 🙂 A section at the beginning of about 1 km was a bit difficult to walk because the "path" ran over larger pebbles. Otherwise everything is beautiful. To our astonishment, just before the restricted zone at the Cape, there was a small food truck. A freshly squeezed orange juice made for a …

National Forest Park "Kavo Gkreko"

The first major tour to the southeastern part of Cyprus was absolutely worth seeing. Even if the name is misleading, there were trees, but very few and rather small. And even though everything was dry due to the time of year, the park still pleasantly surprised me. I only ran into a few people, which …
