At the Godehardbrücke northwest of Göttingen's main train station, the Leine river shows itself from two sides. South of the bridge, it meanders in a winding course with shallow gravel areas, while north of it, it flows through a straight, simple flood channel. The near-natural southern section was made possible by a renaturation, during which bank reinforcements were removed and gravel and reed areas were created. St. Martini Chapel Varmissen
