The small town of Dreifelden and its pond are in a very idyllic location. From up here you have a great view of what's going on on the benches that stand here!

Hofmanns Pond

Highlight • Lake

At the place of a much smaller forerunner, the Hofmannsweiher was created in its current size (16 ha) through construction work around the year 1668. Since the Dreifelder Weiher, which was once much higher dammed, repeatedly caused floods in the village of Dreifelden, a connecting canal was set up between Dreifelder Weiher and Dreifelden in 1744 Hofmannsweiher.

Through this “flood ditch”, water could flow out of the Dreifelder Weiher when snowmelt or heavy rainfall without having to operate the difficult-to-use drainage devices. The canal was filled in when the Dreifelder Weiher was lowered to its current limits around 1840.

The rustic restaurant with a terrace right on the lake offers coffee and cake as well as German dishes. Outside there are more rest benches at the parking lot.
