The bascule bridge was built in 1992 and has a height of 15 meters. In the past, there was a swing bridge that led directly over the herring fences.

The herring fence, newly renovated, may not be a nice way to catch herring, but fish rolls are so tasty! 😫

July 1, 2025,Lieblingsspaziergang nach Arnis😎
Today I hiked to Arnis (Germany's smallest town) again. What a wonderful part of Germany. One of my favorite places😎

In the afternoon we went to Kappeln to browse the craft market, among other things. Then we made a detour to Arnis and back. Unfortunately there was a lot going on, both cyclists and pedestrians. After all, it's high season too. It was nice anyway.

Visited the smallest town in Germany today. With a bright blue sky, we always went along the Schlei. Unfortunately, the ferry in Arnis is out of service, so we had to go back the same way and couldn't run a circuit as planned.

Today we set off despite the rain. The rain radar said it would stop after 20 minutes. But that was a complete lie...
Nevertheless, it was a beautiful walk to Arnis, the smallest town in Germany. There we strolled around a cafe and waited out the rain. The way back was dry😎

Today we continued along the Schlei from Kappeln to Arnis, the smallest town in Germany.

The weather didn't look very promising, but it held up reasonably well until we reached Arnis. There, we had to take shelter for 10 minutes due to a heavy shower.

Arnis the smallest town in Germany. There is only one access to the city, otherwise a dead end. Except for the ferry connection that crosses the Schlei. You can walk around Arnis on the Kirchweg in 30 minutes, the "city" (0.45 km2) is located on a peninsula in the Schlei not far from Kappeln.

Started today in Kappeln. First a short stroll to the mill and the town hall and then we went to the south port. The path at the yacht and museum harbor then takes you to the footpath and cycle path in the direction of Arnis.
Always nice through the green and along the water, you then reach the smallest town …
