Today we went to the harbor in Rantum to walk around the entire Rantum Basin. 🥾

The Rantum Basin is an artificial saltwater lake created by building a dike. It was originally intended as an airfield for the Wehrmacht's seaplanes, but was renaturalized in the 1960s and is now a worthwhile seabird sanctuary. 🐦

We took bus line 2 from the central bus station (ZOB) to Rantum Mitte.

On the way, we didn't find a bench until after 10.8 km, something Udo had been hoping for for the last 3 km. 😅

We really enjoyed the hike. The section along the beach was especially lovely because of the fantastic weather 😎.
