As the name of the street suggests, a part of the former city wall has stretched along the city wall. The two surviving defense towers from the early 18th century are striking. One is at the end of the Ziech, as this small alley is called. There used to be a moat here, but it was filled up in 1842. Unfortunately, you won't find any information about this here. But about 50 m further west from the middle gate is the upper gate with the second defense tower. There is probably a plaque here that says: "con Deo et di MDCCXI", which means: "With God and on this day the wall and towers were built in 1711." Furthermore, the reign of the then Duke Wilhelm Ernst zu Sachsen and others named government.

The Kilian's Church at the cemetery was used until 1537. The monastery church of St. Mary is said to have stood near the current church. After the Reformation, St. Mary's Church became the town church, which burned down in 1636 during the Thirty Years War. In 1657 a successor building was built, which in 1824 fell victim to a city fire.
