How we would have loved to go to the Harz Mountains this weekend, where there is snow even at lower altitudes, away from the masses of skiers. But the sniffly nose still needs a little rest.
The Leinepolder is always worth a visit. And today there were again a large number of animals to observe.

Today the Leinepolder at Salzderhelden. At the moment pure nature, you can see many birds. Heron, geese, swans, storks, etc. We probably only saw 2 cranes from afar, but probably also heard a few...
We parked at the train station. Before we wanted to start walking, we stopped at Café Molly, a hands-on café in the station building, to avoid …

With the wonderful weather, every sofa rears up and throws off the doubters. At least a walk is required to take a seat again. Our goal was the currently flooded Leinepolder near Salzderhelden. Here is currently an extraordinary lake landscape. Spring is coming and a pair of storks has already occupied a nest.

What horrible weather. 🌧️ So today our little group turns into a test run for our rainwear due to the constant rain.
The line has overflowed its banks. Surprising to us, the retention basin in Salzderhelden doesn't hold much water yet. A few geese fly around. They probably don't want to end up as a Christmas roast... 😂

Actually there should only be a short lap to the Leinepolder. The storks are all gone now. But even at this time there is always something interesting to discover. The waterfowl (geese, herons, etc.) are very far away in the ponds. Today there are deer and a fox to watch. At least until some noisy cyclists put nature to flight.
