Hubertus Bridge over the Griebnitz Canal

Highlight • Bridge

Southernmost of three bridges over the waterway over which the Stölpchenweg runs. On one bank is the Forsthaus Wannsee with accommodation and a restaurant.

Griebnitzsee

Highlight (Segment) • Lake

This area of the Teltow Canal is surrounded by nature and very worthwhile. There is hardly any sign of the city. With a bit of luck, you can observe several cranes up close. There are numerous ways to combine the canal path with alternative hiking routes and sights. The path is easy and well-walkable, but not wheelchair accessible.

Lake Griebnitz

Highlight • Lake

One of the most beautiful riverside paths in Potsdam runs along the Griebnitzsee at the foot of the Neubabelsberg villa colony. The former border strip stretches from Babelsberg Park to the (West) Berlin city limits in Stubenrauchstrasse. The character of the design and the legal status are still being debated. Some areas of the trail are currently closed to public use by residents until further notice. And it will probably stay that way.

6.69 km

A beautiful palace with a rich history (not least due to the Cold War, as the palace was located directly on the border and many parts of the grounds and buildings were destroyed). A visit can be combined with countless other attractions (for example, the Glienicke Bridge, Klein Glienicke as a former GDR exclave, the Teltow Canal, and much more).

Medieval Court Pavilion

Highlight • Historical Site

The 13th-century Berlin Courtyard was demolished in 1871 and rebuilt here in Babelsberg Park (and remodeled in a historicist style). Here, it takes the form of a pavilion on a plateau. Certainly one of the most impressive sites in Babelsberg Park.

The Glienicke Bridge connects Berlin with Brandenburg and was known in the Cold War as a place of exchange for agents, since here West Berlin bordered on the GDR.

Even without any historical background, the view from the park over the lake (deep lake and Glienicker See) is beautiful!

View of Glienicke Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

From Babelsberg Park you always have a beautiful view of the Glienicke Bridge. 👍
The different shades of green of the paint on the two halves of the bridge reveal the border between Brandenburg and Berlin. 😉

March 20, 2025,Wanderung von Potsdam nach Griebnitzsee
We had a wonderful tour starting from Potsdam train station. We first went through the beautiful Babelsberg Palace Park with its historic buildings. Then we continued along the Griebnitzsee lake to the S-Bahn station of the same name.

@Isabel and I did this wonderful tour from Griebnitzsee station to Potsdam main station together.
It is a tour mainly in the Potsdam area, but also in the Berlin Wannsee area. Of course we crossed the Wall Trail several times. It went along the water the whole time and the tour shows the numerous castles on the route that are …

Hiked a piece of the E11 again today. We started at S-Bhf.Wannsee. But it felt like an eternity until the cell phone received a GPS signal. We went through the Düppelner forest until we crossed 2 railway bridges to the Griebnitzsee canal, which we crossed. Then we walked along the right bank of the Teltowanal to Klein Glienicke. Here we …

Nice tour on forest paths and through the beautiful Babelsberg Park.

Our tour today began with a walk around the very beautiful Friendship Island. The small exhibition of flowers was worth seeing, as were the pictures by Werner Nerlich.
We continued along the water through Babelsberg Park to the Griebnitzsee promenade. Unfortunately, a large section of the water is closed off.

From Wannsee S-Bahn station, we hike through the Düppel Forest to Lake Griebnitz. The sun accompanies us. We follow the Havel River, past Babelsberg Palace Park, to Potsdam. Here we head to the Barbarini Museum.

We end the day with a fantastic exhibition. 🦄

We're heading to MINSK in Potsdam. No one knows how long the snow will last, so we're off to Wannsee and into the winter forest. With crampons on our feet, even slippery paths are no problem. Every step crunches and crackles. We pass through the Düppel Forest and reach Griebnitzsee. We follow the Havel River, past Babelsberg Palace Park and …
