story

Expositur

After the Schöllnsteiner citizens received a new school place with school house in the year 1866, the desire was great, to receive its own pastoral center, an Expositur.
After many, but always fruitless attempts and efforts, all levers were set in motion towards the end of the 19th century, and this time with success. Mainly through the mediation of Mr. Pichler, who as a former cooperator in Hofkirchen, knew Schöllnstein well and sometimes also pastorated, and because the episcopal ordinance Passau the establishment of a pastoral was very necessary, was in the Bavarian state parliament in consultation of the cultural budget, the establishment of an Expositur Schöllnstein, i. the amount of state funds required annually for the presentation of an Expositus. On January 8, 1901, the first Expositus made its way into the newly built Expositurhaus, to the delight of the local population.

Ohetal Cycle Route: Schöllnstein to Kopfsberg

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Beautiful bike path that is worth cycling!

The Ohetalradweg connects the Danube and Vilstalradweg with the Donau-Ilz-Radweg in the Bavarian Forest.
The cycle path begins in Vilshofen on the Danube and leads to Oberschöllnach near Hofkirchen on the northern route of the Danube Cycle Path. On quiet side streets we continue through the natural valley of the Kleine Ohe to Schöllnstein and to the village of Kopfsberg, which can be reached via a footbridge. The cycle path then leads along the Mühlberg to Iggensbach, where it connects to the Danube-Ilz cycle path.
A family-friendly cycle path with good gradients and easy to drive.
From Vilshofen an der Donau to Schöllnstein on an asphalt surface (15 km), then to Iggensbach on a water-bound surface (4 km)

Luise's Bahnhofstüberl is a popular meeting place for cyclists who want to stop for a snack or a warm meal on their tour. Luise's homemade cake and a cup of coffee - and you're already strengthened for the rest of the bike tour.
