Armored Museum

Highlight • Monument

The Armoured Museum in Kłanin is located on the grounds of a historic palace farm that belonged to the von Grass family before 1945. The permanent exhibition is located in a building from 1891 with an area of over 1,000 square metres adapted for exhibition activities.

The museum's collections include primarily objects from the Second World War, in particular tanks, cars, howitzers and cannons that were part of the equipment of the parties to the conflict from 1939 to 1945. One of the most valuable exhibits is the Sturmgeschütz III G assault gun, currently the only fully operational armoured gun of this type in Poland. Other exhibits include 2 Sd.Kfz. 251 armoured personnel carriers, the 8.8 cm Flak 18 gun, the Sd.Kfz. 7 and Sd.Kfz. 2 transporters, as well as the T-34-85 tank, the Universal Carrier transporter and others. By 2023, the collection will be expanded to include the restored Panzerkampfwagen V Panther, Sd.Kfz. 250 and early production T-34 tanks. All vehicles have original engines and are fully operational. The museum is a narrative facility, closely linked to the history of armored weapons, but also to the fate of Polish soldiers on the fronts of World War II[1]. The owner of the facility is the European collector of historic vehicles Mateusz Deling.

Since 2015, the Museum, still an institution in the organization, has participated in the organization of the annual historical reenactment "Battle for the Great Village"[2], and museum exhibits have also participated in, among others, Łabiszyńskie Spotkania z Historią[3] and the Battle of Fordon[4]. The vehicles of the Armored Museum also take part in film and television productions, including "Zapomniana bitwa" directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.[5]

The official opening of the permanent exhibition took place on July 1, 2022. The commemorative ribbon was cut by Lt. Col. Tomasz Ogrodniczuk - director of the Armored Weapons Museum in Poznań, Aleksander Ostasz - director of the Polish Arms Museum in Kołobrzeg and Capt. Władysław Dąbrowski from the 15th Poznań Uhlan Regiment - participant of the Battle of Monte Cassino[6][7].

The Armored Museum is entered in the register of museums, kept by the minister responsible for culture and protection of national heritage, in accordance with art. 5b of the Act of November 21, 1996 on museums. source: pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzeum_Pancerne_w_K%C5%82aninie
