Siebenschläfer Chapel

The Siebenschläferkapelle is located on the southern outskirts of Stegaurach, on the road from Dellern to Hartlanden. She carries the patronage "dormouse", which is committed on 27 June. As early as 1600, a wooden chapel stood on this spot, which was replaced by a stone building in 1696. In the simply furnished interior of the chapel, a stone altar forms the focal point. The altar relief shows seven resting men, the holy dormouse, over which God the Father, surrounded by clouds and angel heads, perches. The names of the dormice, "Maximianus, Malchus, Martinianus, Dionysius, John, Serapion and Constantinus", have only recently been placed above the altar. The chapel is also the starting point of the "Seven Chapel Path", which has a total length of more than 20 km.
