The rock formation 'The Balconies' is a short walk from the car park at Reed Outlook. Here you have an excellent view over the Victoria Valley. The rocks are made of sandstone that was deposited more than 400 million years ago.

The Balconies Lookout is the real landmark of the Grampians, an absolute must, we thought. The path through the sparse eucalyptus forest was easy to walk as there is almost no incline.
