Llandudno Promenade and Prince Edward Square

Highlight • Settlement

Developing from stone age settlements Llandudno became an important holiday destination and resort town in the mid 1800's. It was also a port where copper was exported and had a thriving fishing industry.
Today it's still one of the biggest and more important Welsh resort towns and tourism is now the biggest business.

Colwyn Bay Beach

Highlight • Viewpoint

Marine Road Beach sits at the western end of the rock and shingle beach adjacent to the centre of Colwyn Bay. The beach is popular for activities such as swimming, water sports, and sailing, with many sailing boats docking along this section of the shore. Being relatively flat, at low tide it is wide and vast, whilst a fairly thin strip of rocks and shingle is left once the tide has come in.
There is plenty of roadside parking along West Promenade, a short walk to the west of the beach. The promenade extends all along the Colwyn Bay beach front offering walking and cycle tracks as well as excellent views of the surrounding coastline. There is a dog ban on the beach from May until September. Dolphins and seals are occasionally spotted in the surf, whilst wading birds are a common sight. The beach can be accessed via a slipway.
It's a great stop for photos and a great cycle path.

Kinmel Bay Beach and Promenade

Highlight • Viewpoint

Also known as Sandy Cove, Kinmel Bay lies on the western side of the River Clwyd just across the estuary from Rhyl. The sandy beach is a popular spot with summer visitors and is used all year round by watersport enthusiasts

Nature lovers should keep a look out for the occasional grey seal which might be spotted bobbing up and down in the water offshore, and the beach is also a good spot for skylarks, kestrel and a variety of wading birds.

Alongside the beach is a narrow promenade which passes the Kinmel Dunes Nature Reserve, which provides a habitat for a number of maritime plants including sea holly, rest harrow and bird’s foot trefoil.

The beach benefits from a large car park with toilets and in summer there is a beach kiosk open along the promenade. An Asda supermarket can be found very close to the beach.

In the nature reserve dogs must be kept on leads and the beach itself has dog walking restrictions from May to September.

May 21, 2022,Prestatyn to Llandudno return with Niki
A bit of a stiff headwind all the way to Llandudno but then turnaround and with the wind and the sun 🌞 on our backs we sped back to the car (stopping off for some chips by the sea - had to be done). Great day out once again.
Haha.. was fantastic but very slipy and cold wind but definitely i want back there ...
