Carmarthen Castle

Highlight • Historical Site

Carmarthen is a small town that is thought to be the oldest in Wales. One of the most notable features of the town is the Roman fort, which dates to around 75 AD. The town’s medieval castle is also interesting. History aside, you find plenty of places to eat and drink, shops, and accommodation, making it a great place for a pit-stop or an overnight stay.

Brechfa Forest Trail Centre

Highlight • Parking

This is a very low key, but great fun trail centre. The facilities are very basic so make sure you bring your own food and plenty of water.

There are black, green and blue trails here at Brechfa Forest and a red slightly up the road at Abergorlech.

Parking is free of charge, and you can navigate here by following routing to 'Byrgwm Car Park'.

Ferryside is a really pretty little village in Carmarthenshire on the estuary of the River Tywi. There used to be a ferry crossing here, hence the name, but latterly became a fishing village and these days the main industry is tourism.
