Liss Village Centre

Highlight • Settlement

Liss is a pleasant Hampshire village with plenty of pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops, and other attractions to keep you entertained.

While the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic era — as demonstrated by some great archaeological finds nearby — Liss first appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 (as Lyss) and there are many historic buildings to explore.

Liss Riverside Railway Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The Liss Riverside Railway path connects the centre of Liss with Liss Forest and follows part of the former Longmoor Military Railway.

It’s also a part of a local nature reserve. The path itself is well-surfaced and traverses over a series of small wooden bridges. It’s an excellent link for all bikes and all abilities.

Longmoor Military Railway Terminus

Highlight • Historical Site

Military land which you will sometimes need to avoid if the flags are flying. Great for getting the miles in and staying off road.

Liss Riverside Railway Walk

Highlight • Structure

A linear nature reserve connecting Liss and Liss Forest along the route of what was once part of the Longmoor Military Railway. The route also forms part of the long distance Shipwrights Way walking and cycling trail, which runs from Alice Holt Forest, near Farnham, to Portsmouth Harbour.

There is some interesting old railway infrastructure along the route, particularly at the Liss end, where the old buffers, platform and shelters remain.
