Rutland Water Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

Picturesque route around the Water, which is traffic-free and safe for children. The impact of all those cars travelling to car the parks, with bikes on board, make the approaching lanes busy for cyclists at times.

Oakham Castle Great Hall

Highlight • Monument

The Great Hall of Oakham Castle is hailed as the finest surviving example of Norman domestic architecture in Europe. Built between 1180 and 1190, great banquets and courts would have been held here. You can also observe a unique 230-strong collection of ornate ceremonial horseshoes, all donated by Peers of the Realm, and admire 12th-century sculptures at the Great Hall.

An absolute pleasure to return here!
Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Also, many places to leave your bike in sight from the cafe.
Staff is always pleasant friendly and helpful.
The menu is classic but very good value and staff are knowledgeable and very happy to adapt stuff for dietary requirements. The food came quickly even on a busy day and was fresh and tasty.
Beautiful location too!
