Clashnessie Beach

A dramatic small beach on the north coast. There is a small area to park in opposite. From the beach you can also walk up to the falls, a trail for which starts south along the road.

Clashnessie Bay is a small sandy beach with a mild microclimate, due to the closeness of the Atlantic Ocean Gulf Stream.
Situated ten miles north of Lochinver, Clashnessie Bay is a clean, quiet and beautiful beach. With a rocky inlet and a big sandy shore, the beach is a fabulous adventure for children and full of things to explore. A short walk upstream will take you to the Clashnessie Falls, a fifteen meter waterfall, dropping from the lochans above. Clashnessie Bay is famous for its ever changing weather and water colour, from tranquil turquoise to white foamy waves.

Highlight • Waterfall

Approx. 15 meters tall, with paths leading up to it and along both sides of the river. There are some stepping stones at the foot of the fall. There is usually water flowing due to the lochans further upstream keeping a flow to the falls.
