Wolfsbruch Lock

Highlight • Structure

The construction of the canal from 1876 to 1881 required a lock for the difference in height between the Rheinsberg waters and the Mecklenburg lakes. This is how the Wolfsbruch lock was created at kilometer 2.37 of the Rheinsberg waters. The lock keeper works in manual mode. The lock chamber is 42.6 m long and 5.2 m wide. Depending on the current water level, the lock lift is 0.4 m.

With around 35,000 passages per season, it is one of the most frequented locks for pleasure craft.

July 13, 2022,Zum Großen Pälitzsee
Our Ribnitz-Damgartener often camp at the Großer Pälitzsee and that was a nice occasion to turn up. We drive to Wesenberg by car and then continue by bike on a side road to Drosedow. A number of years ago we had a company party in the corner and went canoeing and cycling when the temperature was over 30°. Unfortunately, one …

Since our Ribnitz residents camp at the Großer Pälitzsee every year, it was time for us to visit.
By car to Wesenberg and then the same tour as in 2022. I already did the tour alone in 2019, but from home - 119 km with a tent and a lot of unnecessary luggage.

Very nice stretches and great paths. On the way some places to stop. Café in Seewalde currently. Only until 4 p.m. Since inexperienced ones, our Poppes is now pushing a lot 😞

With still the best summer weather, we went cycling through the Mecklenburg Lake District again today. The round led from Wesenberg via Seewalde, Strasen and Priepert, among others. Everything was there, from side streets to field and forest paths. And of course we also went along some (today ten) lakes (hence the lake district😊). Of course, one or two swimming …

A beautiful and varied tour with old and new roads, sand, mud and forest paths.

I can only recommend this tour to a limited extent. From km 15 to km 16.7 it was along a sandy track. It was difficult to push the bike through the sand, luckily I have a push aid. I couldn't even think about riding. After that it was along the B122, which was no fun either.
