Twistringen Wedding Forest

Highlight • Forest

In 1996 the city of Twistringen bought several pastures and combined them to form the present green area. Saplings were planted - there are 82 trees of almost every kind in the wedding forest. Until 2003, young married couples and jubilees regularly took part in the annual planting days.

Reisegarten Twistringen

Highlight • Rest Area

Since 2014, the five municipalities and cities of Bassum, Stuhr, Syke, Twistringen and Weyhe have formed the “We in the North” region in order to work more closely together at the municipal level and promote joint regional development. One element of this cooperation are the so-called travel gardens, one of which exists in each of the aforementioned municipalities. The Twistringen travel garden is located directly at the Delme spring. It is small but nice - in the central area there is a shelter with seating, bike racks and the large information board.

Delme Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

Here the Delme, which gives its name to the city of Delmenhorst, appears for the first time on the surface. The spot is marked by a boulder, the plaque of which points to the 44km long course of the river to Ochtum. According to the information board on site, the source site was redesigned in 2004, but the boulder dates back to 1982.
