Great bathing lake in the Südseecamp, created with a sandy beach and shallow entry into the water, so you can just cool off your feet. Several snack bars and restaurants are distributed directly around the entire lake.

The "Sitzende" is one of a total of 10 sculptures on the waterway sculptures - Örzte and Wietze make it tangible through works of art - and was created in 2012 by Wladimir and Nathalia Rudolf.

Automat Wietzendorf

Highlight • Other

Great vending machine for a stop in between, as the machine is right in the town and now open 24/7. The goods in the machine are slightly cooled, there are Snickers, KitKat etc. for a good price. The 0.5L bottle of Coke for €2 - deposit included. Anyone planning a longer tour should stop here - the next gas station on my route was in Bergen.

Wietzendorfer Beekeeper

Highlight • Monument

The Wietzendorf Beekeeper, which is the official designation as a landmark of the honey community Wietzendorf, stands in the village center at the Friedenseiche, next to the Jacobi church. The bronze statue was designed by Bremen artist Claus Homfeld. It was unveiled on the occasion of the 23rd Honey Festival on September 28, 1996. The costs of DM 70,000 were fully financed by donations. The beekeeper is depicted in his typical work attire – with pipe, hat, and face veil. In his hand, he holds a traditional skep. Two more baskets stand near him; one of them bears a face intended to ward off evil spirits.

St. James' Church, Wietzendorf

Highlight • Religious Site

From Wiki:
"The most important building in the village is the neo-Gothic St. Jakobi Church, which was built in 1876 by the well-known architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase in place of a previous Gothic building. Only the wooden bell tower remained from the old building; it has bells from the years 1564, 1970 and 1972 and a bell from the beginning of the 14th century. Today's church has partly very high-quality furnishings. A Gothic bronze baptismal font (around 1370) and the late Nazarene design of the chancel by the church painter Rudolf Schäfer (1956/57 ).The monumental Schäfer'sche redesign of the church is in tension with the moderate neo-Gothic conception of the church, but is interesting as a testimony to the times and faith: Wietzendorf was influenced by the Lutheran revival movement, which emanated from neighboring Hermannsburg from 1849 until the 1960s uninterruptedly noticeable."
