This is a smooth paved section of the Back Bay Loop Trail, approximately 2 miles (3.2k) in length along the north side of the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve.

Running between Irvine Ave and Jamboree Road, this route takes you away from the busy roads and offers the best views.

A nice blacktop lane for cycling, the bikeway begins across Jamboree Rd, traveling north parallel to the local roads, passing the scenic Citrus Ranch and Cedar Grove Parks along the way.

The trail ends at Peters Canyon Regional Park, where you can park up your bike and pick up a hiking trail.
