Wolfscote Dale is an idyllic limestone dale, close to Hartington. The crystalline River Dove flows through the heart of this steep-sided dale, which has dramatic screes, cliffs and caves towering above it. The wildflower meadows beside the river are the perfect place to stop for a moment and take it all in. While equally beautiful, Wolfscote is usually quieter than nearby Dovedale.

Carter's Mill Millstones and Weir

This spot used to be the site of Carter's Mill, an old mill powered by the adjacent weir.
All that remains now is the millstones and weir after the building was dismantled, and the iron water wheel removed for scrap in WWII.
The post-medieval corn mill was in use for much of the 19th century. The mill is marked on the 1840 Ordnance Survey map and on a mid-19th century tithe map. The 1880 Ordnance Survey map labels it as a flour mill, but it is disused by the time of the 1922 Ordnance Survey map.

Lathkill Dale is an enchanting limestone valley renowned for breathtaking displays of nature. The crystal-clear River Lathkill flows through the dale; which begins narrow and rocky but spreads into expansive river meadows downstream. The dale supports much wildlife and the limestone grasslands are a riot of colour in spring and summer.
