Reuss Bridge with view of the old town

Highlight • Viewpoint

The traffic-calmed old town, surrounded on three sides by the Reuss, is a cultural monument of national importance. The four annual markets, especially the Christchindlimärt during Advent, have a national appeal and make Bremgarten the tourist center of southeastern Aargau.

The Bremgartner Meitli

Highlight • Monument

sBremgartner Meitli is a statue by the Zufik artist Petra Hochstrasser made from an oak tree over 100 years old. Inaugurated two years ago, it stands on tiptoe on the Reussuferweg and looks into the river.

In August, the Meitli was in the headlines. Vandals threw the statue into the river. Only with luck could it be saved. The artist restored the Meitli and since the beginning of September it has been standing in its place again.

A covered wooden bridge spans the Reuss near Bremgarten. The first bridge at this point was built in the 13th century, the current one dates from 1953. On the left bank of the river you can visit the Bollhaus and the museum in the former Bruggmühle hydroelectric power station.

Tägerig Pond

Highlight • Lake

Idyllic pond with simple benches. The gravel road that passes here is also a nice alternative to the official bike path between Tägerig and Nesselnbach.

In the Swiss Straw Museum in Wohlen you can learn about the history of straw weaving and hat making. The Freiamt region of Aargau was the most important region in which this type of straw was processed. The museum is open every afternoon from Wednesday to Sunday.
