The highest point is the Skywalk in Halstett, we went there on foot 😃

Weather was great, no rain.
Too many tourists in Hallstadt🤣😂
Route quite hilly.
The return journey by train is very relaxed, as it goes back the same way.

Unless you are happy on a busy main road then stick to the east side of the lake when cycling back from Halstatt.
West side of Halstättersee everything on the federal road very heavy traffic

Today's tour started in Bad Ischl. After the cultural part with Sissi Park and Kurpark, we followed the wonderful Traun cycle path to Bad Goisern and further to Hallstädter See. Hallstadt was too crowded for us and we quickly continued to circle the lake. The way back took us along the Traun back to Bad Ischl.

Don't cycle to Hallstatt from the north along the west side of Lake Hallstatt. That's murder in itself. It's an 8km narrow, winding country road with no safety lane for bicycles.

Recommendation: If you absolutely want to cycle to Hallstatt, if you're coming from the north, you should cycle around the east side (clockwise) of the lake and then return …

Via Goisern we went around the lake to Obertraun, where we made a short stop at the seaside resort. Enjoy the peace and quiet again before heading to the Unesco World Heritage Site in Hallstatt. We were lucky and were able …

Beautiful on the eastern shore. The west side is a busy road... avoid it!
