Leopold Column (Margrave Leopold III & IV, Bishop Otto of Freising)

Highlight • Monument

A popular resting place for cyclists enjoying the Triestingau. A bench next to the column tempts you to sit down and, listening to the sound of the water, watch the ducks that are happy there.

The triangular monument with a lantern-shaped top was erected in 2002 and originally had beautiful stained glass pictures on each side, illuminated by light from within. It seems that the municipality of Trumau has given up on re-framing them after several cases of vandalism where the pictures were smashed.

Triestingau Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

Triestingau cycle path (9a) is one of my most beautiful in this area 🥰
Wonderful family-friendly cycle path, this is 26 km long, goes between Schönau an der Triesting and Himberg.
Anno: At the end of the 18th century, the towns along the Triesting experienced their heyday. Cotton machine spinning mills with around 39,000 spindles brought work and income to more than 2,000 people.
Today you can relax and drift along the river by bike and enjoy the quiet meadow.

Rest Area by the Triesting River

Highlight • Rest Area

There was also a cozy resting place for us at the fish ladder, a popular little love meeting place in the evening.

Anninger Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Like the top dog, the Anninger Schutzhaus is centrally located on the Anninger. The kitchen is good. In the warm season, it's worth taking a break here during a lengthy mountain bike tour, in order to then ski down from the Anninger. There are several options here:
- a downhill to Gaaden via the Jubilee Observatory
- via the forest road to Gaaden
- via the forest road to the Prokschhütte
- via forest paths in the direction of Richardshof / Prisnitztal
- via the forest road back to Mödling
- via the forest road to Hinterbrühl
- via the forest road and the border path to the hussar temple
and so forth.

Anninger Transmitter Tower

Highlight • Monument

In the colors 🇦🇹, this transmitter tower of A1 stands out of the forest and apart from a resting place with table and seating there is nothing special to see here.

Breite Föhre Rest Area

Highlight • Rest Area

Always good for a rest!

Breite Föhre was a popular excursion destination on the slopes of the Anninger near Mödling, from which there is a wide view down to the valley of the Vienna Basin. The tree was one of the most famous natural monuments of the 19th century in the area of Vienna, whose age goes back to the 16th century (dead in 1988, remains in the Lower Austria State Museum).

Lebensbaumallee Trumau

Highlight • Monument

A tree of life is planted for all newborns in Trumau. Every child in the municipality of Trumau receives a book as a gift twice a year from birth until the end of primary school - around World Book Day in April and at Christmas.

Quote from the municipality of Trumau

I think it's a good idea to plant a tree for all children in the town.
