Loenermark Sheepfold

In the past, sheep were of great importance for fertilizing farmers' land. They also gave wool and meat. With the arrival of fertilizer, the sheep seemed superfluous and over time the Loenen sheep herd also disappeared. The residents of Loenen did not leave it at that and in 1993 they introduced their own flock of sheep, which is now managed by Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen.

Want to meet the herd? Every morning at 9 a.m. the shepherd leaves the sheepfold with his sheep and the flock returns around 4 p.m. But even if the animals are not there, it is worth taking a look at the old and new sheepfold.
