Schloss Thalheim

Highlight • Castle

The castle has its origins in the 17th century. After numerous changes of ownership, the President of the Anglobank Guido Elbogen (1845–1918), son of the Jungbunzlau Rabbi Isak Elbogen (?–1883), acquired the castle in 1881. In 1939 the castle was foreclosed on and bought by a German merchant named Alfred Laumayer.

Today, Schloss Thalheim is a luxury hotel with a restaurant in the palace garden.

Highlight • Castle

In a document in the 14th century a mansion of the Lords of Pain was mentioned. In a document, a castle was named as a sovereign fiefdom in 1365. 1523 owned by the Protestant Kornfail family. 1730 was a re-catholicization of the dominion under the nobles of Mayenberg. A castle chapel was mentioned in a document in 1742. The palace was rebuilt under Adolf Freiherr von Seidler. In 1916 the castle went to Heinrich Mendl as co-owner of Ankerbrot. In 1925 the castle was the Stefan Mendl rest home of the postal union and in 1953 a rest home for the anchor bread factory. In 1970 the castle became the property of the municipality.

A new castle was built over a moated castle from the 16th century in 1894 according to the plans of the architect Johann Julius Romano Ritter vonringen. From 2000 to 2002 it was converted into apartments.

Today the castle houses the municipal office and is a listed building. (Wikipedia)
