St. Erhard's Church, Nidau

Highlight • Religious Site

The church in Nidau, originally dedicated to Saint Erhard von Regensburg, dates back to the 14th century. It was first mentioned in 1368 and was a branch of the parish of Bürglen (Aegerten). In 1482 it became an independent parish church. Evangelical Reformed since 1528, the church was expanded in 1678-1682. As a result of the lowering of the lake level as part of the first Jura water correction (1868-1891), the church tower began to tilt significantly. During the renovation of 1912-1914, the tower was renovated and supported, but remained in the characteristic inclination to this day.

Central Square, Biel

Highlight • Structure

The central square of Biel is the fulcrum with regard to the traffic routes. From here you can get directly to the train station or the shopping area. The market also takes place on this square and there are many stalls here for the Praderie. The UBS building, which is somewhat reminiscent of London, is striking. All bus lines cross here and the square is the beginning of the car-free pedestrian zone. The Schüss, Biel's "city river", runs under the square. If you follow the Schüss to the west, you come directly to the Strandboden on Lake Biel.

Église du Pasquart (Reformed Church Biel)

Highlight • Religious Site

Imposing church on a hill above the main street.

Built by the French-speaking Reformed Church of Biel in the early 20th century, the building houses exhibitions organized by the Présences association (presences.ch) and concerts organized by the Les Concerts du Pasquart association (concertsdupasquart.ch). . The church is on the flank of a hill and offers visitors an unobstructed view over the rooftops of the city of Biel.

Cycling this ring road is a lot of fun. However, you have to overcome a few meters of altitude.

Climb from Orvin to Place Centrale

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Nice climb on a quiet road from Orvin up to Place Centrale (1290m). From there you can descend to Cortébert or a little above the valley to Courtelary.
Asphalt is good, but if you are going downhill you should watch out for the gates.

Easy connection over the hilltop down to Orvin. Asphalt is good, the road is clearly visible downhill, you can let it roll.

Veloland Bern

Highlight • Rest Area

Not a highlight in this sense, but here the owner immediately helped me with a problem with the bike.
Furthermore, there is a small assortment of spare parts, if something is missing.
These small shops must be preserved and should be supported, even if it costs a few francs more, it's better to go there than to a big bike shop chain.
