The "Fort de Chillio" an artillery fort (2'125m2) from the time of the Second World War. It's tucked away right next to the Chateau Chillion and tends to be overlooked for all the medieval splendor of the castle. The fort is an interactive museum that wants to bring visitors closer to the everyday life of the fortress soldiers and that can be visited over several floors. Of course it has a martial background and one shouldn't glorify it either. Nevertheless, it is a piece of Swiss military history, to which the Chateau Chillion belongs, albeit from a different era. So if you are interested in military history, a visit to the fort is highly recommended. The museum is open all year round. A visit lasts about 1-2 hours and is also suitable for children.
