Dolmen D30

Highlight • Historical Site

This dolmen is attributed to the Funnelbeaker culture, the collective name of a number of communities that lived in this area in the New Stone Age. It is perhaps no surprise that the pottery consisted mainly of funnel beakers. Evidence has been found that pottery containing remains of the funeral meal was buried in the grave. The serifs of dozens of pots have been found in the burial vault of dolmen D30, which was located at a depth of one meter.

Meerweg survived the modern times up until today and is a nice little road to throw into your cobbled keien-ride.

Cobbled Section Valtherzandweg (part 1)

Valtherzandweg is part of a much longer piece of cobble road (keienweg). It connects Exloo in the north with Valthe in the south and is all cobbles.

There is however a way to escape the keien by fleeing to the concrete cycling path next to it. Something that many may want to do, because in total this thing is a long pain running through open fields and forest. So yeah, wind also plays a role most of the times!

Cobbled section Hegeveldsweg

The Hegeveldsweg is a small cobbled road in the village of Exloo. The cobbled section is only part of the official road, as it continues into the farming fields to the east as a dirt road, where it also connects to the much longer 'Valtherzandweg' cobbled road or 'keienweg'.

A small bonus section of cobbles can be found to the west of the Hegeveldsweg also on the other side of Zuideinde. This stretch of cobbles however ends in a dirt road also and is not road bike friendly. The Hegeveldsweg however is, so hit it and hit it hard!
