It adjoins the Bois du Cazier site, where the biggest mining disaster in the history of Belgium took place on the morning of August 8, 1956. The summit hosts a panoramic observatory on the region, at nearly 250 meters above sea level. A path has been laid out to facilitate the ascent of the slag heap.
