This captivating tree tunnel runs next to a large sand quarry on Stedham Common. Adorned with lush pines, the 1,000-feet (300-m) path runs in a straight line along a bridleway to Minsted Road.

Cowdray House Ruins

The market town of Midhurst is nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park. There are some splendid walks on the town's doorstep. From vibrant woodland, ablaze with the colour of wildflowers, to wide, open heathlands that reward with huge panoramas, there's plenty to explore in the surrounding countryside.

The magnificent Tudor ruins of Cowdray House lie just to the east of the town. The manor was large destroyed by a fire on 24 September 1793.

An important breeding site for both nightjars and stonechats, Stedham Common makes for a great walk for bird watchers. It is also rich in invertebrates making the most of the varied habitats found here.

The common is part of the wider Iping and Stedham Common National Nature Reserve, which covers 310 acres (125 ha) of heathland.
