Volunteer day with my work colleagues. It was very cold and windy at the summit ridge. Even some hail. Challenging conditions to collect soil samples for the James Hutton Institute's Mountain Heights, Hidden Depths project. This involves taking soil samples at most of Scotland's munros to study soil biodiversity. Find out more here: munro-biodiversity.hutton.ac.uk

The forecast for the East was much better so we decided to leave Torridon and head to Ben Wyvis.
The car park was already full at the 10am on a Friday so arriving early is a good idea.

Had a really beautiful day up Ben Wyvis! Cloud inversion and a fog bow!! Worth starting early (6:45am) as had the summit to myself but the car park was full when i got down, its a very popular munro so worth keeping that in mind 🧡
