Keld Village

Highlight • Historical Site

Keld Resource Center is a kind of local history group that aims to promote the Upper Swaledale region, conserve (and restore) local heritage and introduce visitors to it.

Here you will find information about, among other things, the local lead mining industry and agricultural history (including those cow houses, which you should never call "stables" :-)).
In 2022 they opened the old Keld school as a Living Heritage Center.
Free admission every day from 9am to 5pm.

Waterfall on the River Swale

Highlight • Natural Monument

Although this bridge is about a mile further than the Coast to Coast Way halfway sign at Keld Lodge, crossing the Swale can serve as a symbolic halfway point.

East Gill Force

Highlight • Waterfall

With a 15-foot (4.5 m) drop, East Gill Force is an impressive waterfall in a stunning location. Below the main falls is a smaller waterfall that cascades downstream. As the waterfalls are at the point where the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast Walk intersect, you'll likely see a few fellow hikers.
