Magdalene Chapel

On a rocky outcrop above the Drau Valley, east of the village of Baldersdorf, you can see the Magdalene Chapel of Baldersdorf. The chapel was first mentioned in documents in 1410, but according to archaeological research, the church is much older. During excavations, a small round church with a rock grave was found, presumably the grave of the church's founder. The church was completed in its current form in 1513 and is now a branch church of Molzbichl. Every Easter Monday, the people of Molzbichl make a pilgrimage to the chapel to celebrate Holy Mass outside the church with the men's choir.
The church is dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, patron saint of women and sinners. Stages of her life are depicted inside the church.

The Carantana Museum is located in the immediate vicinity, with its important early medieval finds.
