View of the Tamina Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

The imposing arch bridge spans the Taminatal and has a span of 260 meters. This makes it the largest arch bridge in Switzerland. Since 2017, the bridge allows a direct road connection from Bad Ragaz to Valens.

October 2, 2021,Kunkelspass round trip
Start at the Landquart motorway exit. Up to Pfäfers, on to Vättis. From there only bikers up to the Kunkelspass. All asphalt. Upstairs is a pleasant pub, unfortunately the sun has passed right there, then it gets cool. The descent to Tamins is mostly a natural road, spectacular, steep and with a tunnel with viewing windows as a highlight. From …

Kunkelspass from the Tamins side. First comfortably along the Rheinweg. From Tamins then done funny and up. I remembered it being steep, but not that steep. Consistently well over 10%, sometimes over 20%. At least a good path/road. The round is absolutely worthwhile, but next time we'll probably do it the other way around.....

The start from Tamins was tough but worth it.

October 17, 2023,Kunkels Runde
Today we went round the Kunkels again. With a detour to the Ringelspitzhütte. Have any of you ever biked down Lavoitobel? Looks a bit scary from above. I would have been interested, but firstly I was alone and secondly I was more of a peep. So I chose the easier option, back to the Kunkels.

Start and finish is the train station in Landquart. Biologically it goes from Sarelli high over Pfäfers, Mapraggstausee (right side of the lake), Vättis and from there up to the Kunkelspass. The descent to Tamins (confluence of the Vorder- and Hinterrhein) is steep (cost me the rear brake today). The tunnels in the upper part have no lighting, but rock …

I took a few pictures today just for @Norbert 🤣
It was another very beautiful and at times strenuous tour. The landscape was magnificent again; the weather was great. The battery was almost empty. There wasn't much air left
On the descent, the brakes were put to the test. It was a hot …
