Former Attisholz Cellulose Factory

Highlight • Monument

Cellulose Attisholz AG was founded in 1881 and was the only cellulose factory in Switzerland at the time. In a turbulent history, Attisholz also took over the German company Hakle in 1983, known for toilet paper, which has since been sold to the large Kimberly-Clark group together with Tela. For two years in the 2000s it even belonged to Christopher Blocher.
The factory was finally closed in 2008.
Over the next 20 - 30 years it should be gradually developed into a lively and diverse district of the municipality of Riedholz with a variety of housing types, jobs, services, sports and leisure activities, art and culture and gastronomy - at least that's what it says in the 'prospectus'.

The area is actually called Emmenspitz, where the Emme River flows into the Aare. Lovely seating along the riverbank, a barbecue area, and a few trees providing shade invite you to take a pleasant break.

View of the Aare River

Highlight • Viewpoint

In Solothurn, on the banks of the Aare, one must stop to admire the view of the Aare flowing gracefully past the "most beautiful baroque city in Switzerland", framed by charming historic buildings and the Jura Mountains in the distance. This picturesque location offers a peaceful setting for a stroll on the river or a relaxing break to watch the boats drift by.

Erratic boulder "Pyramide"

Highlight • Natural Monument

The "pyramid" is an eratic block whose shape gave it its name. It is located on the Solothurn Megalithic Path, on which several boulders can be hiked. It was transported to this position by the Rohnegletscher 10,000 years ago.

Rüti Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Rüti Trail is a single trail that does not have very many vertical meters. It leads over forest floor, which can be quite "slippery" in some places when wet. It is easy to navigate and has no major obstacles. Except for fallen trees or rough ground from forest work. It can be driven on from both sides.
