View from Grimsel Pass to Gletsch

Highlight • Viewpoint

The view during the descent towards Gletsch is breathtakingly beautiful. However, you should concentrate on the ride and avoid letting your gaze wander.

Old Grimsel Pass Road

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

Since the tunnel on the Grimsel Pass road is only accessible by bike downhill, you'll have to take the old pass road. However, it's not a must, as the path, part of which is cobblestone, is much more beautiful and spectacular anyway.

Guttannen Fountain

Highlight • Rest Area

Open your eyes and don't drive past them (which happens quickly, as I know from my own experience): Here you can refill your drinking bottles again, which is very useful in warm weather. Because from now on nothing comes to the Grimsel Pass. Incidentally, here in Guttannen you have the opportunity to take a short, traffic-free alternative route far away from the (sometimes quite annoying) Grimselstrasse.

From here it's easy to go downhill. In Gletsch you have to decide: left up to the Furka pass to Realp (Uri) or right down to Oberwald in beautiful Goms (Valais).

July 18, 2022,Gemütliche Abendtour auf den Grimselpass
Since I recently broke my hand, I currently have to look for "vibration-free" biking. The Grimsel ("the" Grimselpass) is perfect with a gravel bike. There is also a super fine burger as a summit reward.

I can recommend a car-free evening tour!

The photos were all taken while driving uphill.

Racing bike tour for three on the Grimsel Pass

From Innertkirchen 26 km and 1500 meters of altitude comfortably up to the Grimsel Pass - the burger is waiting ... The temperatures are very pleasant and in the evening there are hardly any cars or motorcycles. Perfect conditions! Start in (almost) sunshine at around 6:00 p.m. It got dark at …

2:15 a.m. - first rumble of thunder. A glance at the weather app – I was already awake with 25 degrees in the tent – rain was forecast between 3:30 and 4 a.m. That wouldn't have been a problem. But it didn't come. I waited until 4:45 a.m. and arrived along with a thunderstorm. So we went into the common …

When will the combustion engine ban for motorcycles finally come into effect 🤪
Despite a lot of traffic, a beautiful climbing tour in front of a breathtaking backdrop.

Today the Grimsel Pass from the north. So-so in the lower area, but an absolute dream road at the top 😊 Especially the detour to the Oberaar Panoramastraße is a hit 😎 However, you should not be afraid of heights 🙈 Rarely seen such a frightening balcony road
