Church of San Giacomo (St. Jakob), Ortisei

Highlight • Religious Site

The exact origin of the church cannot be determined. Some historians believe it was built around 1181. However, according to tradition, the Counts ofstättenecke were the builders of the church, although they do not appear until the second half of the 13th century. It is first documented in a surviving indulgence dated August 18, 1283.

View of Sassolungo

Highlight • Viewpoint

From this panoramic point in Val Gardena, on the right of the homonymous stream and not far from the center of Santa Cristina, you have a splendid view of the Sassolungo massif and, in part, also of the Catinaccio. These are two of the most famous rock formations in the Dolomites.

After a long weekend with fantastic weather was forecast in South Tyrol, it quickly became clear that SOUTH TYROL was my second home :), I'm coming!

Day 1 was planned in Val Gardena.

We started in St. Christina.
The destination was Seceda.

Wonderful tour in perfect weather that was worth every effort.

It couldn't have been better.

Mostly very easy to drive (S0, rarely S1, some hairpin bends). At the beginning in St. Ulrich steep with coarse gravel. In the valley on the way back then a nice bike path downhill.

A tour that I have been waiting for all summer because it is feasible only when the mass of tourists has gone, having seen a long stretch of single-track that in the presence of hikers becomes unnerving for you and for them.
Departure from Ortisei, cycle path up to S.Cristina and long climb up to 2500mt from the arrival of …

Today we went to the Seceda🚵🚵always steep 💪💪komoot navigated us 200m wrong, because the cycle path ended in a non-passable hiking trail🫣so we turned around, but others had the same experience😅😅

06/29/21: After returning from Bressanone, I got on my bike again. Start in Selva, uphill to the Regensburger Hut and then over Col Reiser and the sunny slopes of the Seceda. Then through the pine and stone pine forests down to Ortisei. When a thunderstorm approaches, parallel the valley road back to Selva. Pictures will be commented on after returning …

Here again, an absolutely stunning tour on the way up and especially at the top...the descent, on the other hand, was quite steep...but you get down quickly...there's not much to see.

Greetings, Sepp

Technically easy panoramic tour, only a few steep ramps have to be mastered - I pushed the bike twice very briefly. The Troi dl Schirlates path under the Gamsbluthütte is forbidden for bikes, I only rode it because almost nobody is out of season now. Otherwise just follow the forest path.
