Red Deer Range Scenic Road

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

In any case, take enough food with you. Really very deserted between New Galloway and Newton Stewart. But that's the attraction.

Water of Minnoch Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

Pretty little bridge crossing the water of Minnoch near to Glentrool. Nothing more than that, but a nice place to spend a few minutes and listen to the water and spot some birds.

A great spot to start/end a ride. There's a car park, cafe and loads of local route information from MTB loops to road rides.

Rolling descent to Glentrool

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Heading south this is a wonderful rolling descent that seems to go on forever with beautiful scenery. Hardly had to turn a pedal for miles. Suspect it would be a long slog in the other direction, but not too steep.

Straiton Village

Highlight • Settlement

Mainly built in the 18th century, albeit with a few more modern additions, Straiton retains its 1700s charm.

Interestingly the main location for the film 'The Match', where two rival pubs played against each other in a football match.

So at least you know you'll be able to get a pint if you stop off mid ride!

B741 Road – Girvan to Dailly, South Ayrshire

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

What a road (even heavily laden down with bikepacking gear), narrow, twisty, steep kickers, great tarmac, not much traffic, great scenery, go cycle it.

Carsphairn to Dalmellington Scenic Road

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Just a beautiful road ride, awesome scenery. Views on all sides make it a great ride.
