Huelgoat

Highlight • Other

Huelgoat is located in the heart of the regional natural park of Armorica on the edge of a lake and above all very close to the natural site of Chaos Granitique d'Huelgoat. You can access it by a small path located just before the bridge from which the river starts. Here you go for a walk in the middle of its immense rocks while following the wild river, all in the setting of a magnificent beech grove.

Dolmen of Ty Ar Boudiged

Highlight • Historical Site

Arrived at Brennillis, it would have been a shame to miss this magnificent partly covered tumulus. Which is quite rare. Indeed nowadays we only distinguish the stone structure in tabular form of the dolmens.

Kerampeulven Menhir

Highlight • Other

Erected in the Neolithic between - 5,000 years and - 2,300 years, the menhir of Kerampeulven is 6 meters high. Which is already impressive in itself.

What is more remarkable is the presence of the tumulus of Berriou in the town of Berrien where this stone is also located.

According to an interesting archaeological hypothesis menhirs and tumulus (or Dolmens) would be linked. Some believe that the alignments of standing stones would be paths that would lead the dead from dolmen to dolmen, as they progressed through the realm of the afterlife. This remains a difficult theory to prove because in the Neolithic era writing was not yet invented, and there is no evidence to support this. At most we see the presence of the two emblematic monuments of Brittany very often going together.

Kerampeulven means "the village of the menhir".
