Saint-Efflam Greenway

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

In 1916, with the commissioning of the meter-gauge railway, also affectionately known as "Le Petit Train", travelers and goods could be transported between Lannion and Plestin Les Grèves. The operation was entrusted to the Compagnie de Chemins de Fer Armoricains. This connection also contributed significantly to the development of St. Efflam and St. Michel en Grève, with their beautiful beaches, into seaside resorts.
Nevertheless, their potential for the movement of goods is not enough to generate profits. At the end of the 1920s, the increasing popularity of automobiles also emerged as serious competition. The railway line was finally closed in 1937. The memorial plaque, near the former train station in Ploumilliau, tells the short history of this railway line. Today the EV4 (Vélomaritime) cycle path runs on the old railway line.

Douron Estuary

Highlight • Other

The Douron, a small coastal river of 38 km, has its source in Scrignac and flows into the English Channel between Locquirec and Plestin-les-Grèves. It crosses landscapes of peat bogs, wet meadows, woods and bocage. The valley is home to unique animal species such as otters, Atlantic salmon, bats…. The estuary part, between Pont Menou and the Cornic bridge, winds between meanders and offers a complete ecosystem made up of cliffs, wooded areas, wet meadows, mudflats and salt meadows. This mosaic of environments hosts a concentration of plant and animal species.
At low tide, the mudflat is a resting and feeding area for many birds. The estuary is extended by volcanic cliffs of very ancient origin which opens the perspective on the bay of Lannion.

Baie de Locquirec

Highlight • Beach

This promontory offers a beautiful view of the beach of the bay and the campsite. The belvedere reveals the fantastic bay of Locquirec and will be totally different from one state of tide to another. With white sand, it is one of the longest beaches in the region and the Eurovelo 4 passes just behind.
At high tide, you can admire the sand and the sea; at low tide the sea is so far away that you can barely see it, instead you can marvel at the stretch of sand with beached boats.
