This memorial was erected on September 11, 1994 to commemorate the Battle of Moerbrugge, which killed 52 Canadian soldiers, more than 100 German soldiers and 12 Belgian civilians in September 1944. The monument from 1949 was integrated into a peace monument in 2018 and is a listed building.

The sculpture was made from an M10 Wolverine tank destroyer, which was disassembled on site and transformed into a work of art. One plaque bears the names of civilian casualties and another bears the names of fallen Canadians.
