Greetings from Valussa

Highlight • Viewpoint

Start the climb from Tualis towards Crostis taking it from Ravascletto (less demanding than the one designed for the tour but in some places it is tough).

Fountain along the Crostis climb

Highlight • Rest Area

Old fountain dedicated to cyclists just above Comeglians. Very good and drinkable water

Panoramica delle Vette

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Magnificent white road that for some km keeps you at an altitude of 1850/1900 m with a view, as the name implies, on the most important peaks of our Friuli: in the lower part (from Comeglians) you can see the Carnic Crete, in front you will have Monte Verzegnis and in the last part, the most spectacular, there is a view of the Amariana-Sernio-Grauzaria group and, among others, the majestic Jof di Montasio stands out and behind it the Jof Fuart. The road is flat, however it is overhanging the valley below and is not protected so hand on the brakes and caution. Then the dizzying asphalted descent to Ravascletto begins (July 2020 - watch out for several works in progress and narrowing of the already very narrow road and sections with very rough surfaces and the presence of debris on the road)

The ascent of Crostis is one of the most scenic in Italy also thanks to observation points like this one

Sella Valcalda

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Valcalda saddle, which culminates in the municipality of Ravascletto, is a mountain pass that connects Sutrio to Comeglians.
Valcalda is a holiday area both in summer, thanks to the cycling and hiking trails, and in winter, thanks to the ski slopes.

The weather is too beautiful and warm not to take advantage of it. The road between Tualis and Ravascletto is officially closed for a logging site and I had to get off at Comeglians and then return to Ravascletto.

Not a difficult but challenging ride, mostly on asphalt and well-beaten dirt road. I recommend doing it counterclockwise, even if the descent puts a strain on the brakes!!...

Starting from Ravascletto we began the climb.
The first stretch the view is obscured by trees the road is mostly immersed in the woods and climbs up the side of Mount Runch at the exit of the woods 4 more hairpin bends await us and we arrive almost under the top of Mount Valsecc.
Then the road becomes a dirt …

That was a nice tour with the son-in-law over the Panoramica delle Vette and the infamous Zoncolan, I on an e-bike, he on his MTB. Roman also drove the Plöckenpass, which resulted in a total of 4200 m for him and 2700 m for me (the second battery would still have 2 cookies afterwards)
