Schenna Castle

The Lords of Schenna appear as Ministeriale of the Counts of Tyrol during the 12th Century in appearance. The castle was built around the year 1350 in place of the old castle Schenna, which was mentioned in a document in 1346, by Petermann von Schenna, 1352-1369 Governor of Tyrol and Burggraf Tyrol. Not only the castle, but also the mausoleum on the church hill of Schenna, where Archduke Johann and his family found their final resting place, as well as the Thurnerhof as an agricultural farm and traditional tavern, belong to the estate today.
