Today we did a little tour to St Elias Church. A lot of asphalt but a magnificent view.
Once at the top, a very spiritual atmosphere came over you, especially with the church and the Kazbek in view. Then we went back across country through the small forest.

The hike from Stepantsminda to the opposite side of Mount Kazbek is also highly recommended. The newly built church, small waterfalls and the (fortunately mostly small) scree avalanches in the afternoon, including clouds of dust, are just as impressive as the horses grazing on the steep slope
