Grüffelo Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Since May 2022, Weinheim has had a new landmark: the Gruffalo Trail. The trail is around 600m long, starts at the corner of Am Schlossberg / Neuer Burgweg and runs uphill along the Burgweg towards Windeck.

Here you will meet a mouse, fox, squirrel, owl, snake, the Gruffalo child and the Gruffalo. There is an explanatory panel and a puzzle to solve for each figure. Further information about the trail, the city or the Gruffalo books can be accessed via a QR code.

The individual stations are also stored here as highlights:

Windeck Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

The castle ruins are a beautiful hiking and walking destination with refreshment stops. It offers a wonderful view over Weinheim and the Rhine Valley, in good weather up to the Palatinate. The ascent from Weinheim takes about half an hour for the inexperienced and then continues to the Wachenburg ... it's definitely worth it.

The Burgschänke with its small beer garden invites you to linger (attention: only open by reservation!). Not tried it myself, but the knight's meal should really be a success.

Comments

July 10, 2022,Weinheim - Ritterlesburgen, Ruinen, Türme, Weitsichten und Gerberviertel
Despite being very tired, the bones want to be aired out a bit. The weather is also quite passable, nothing keeps me inside. But long train journeys are not my thing today, so Weinheim is close by.
Let's start at the train station with a cloudy sky and a lot of wind. Nothing summer mode. Counteracts the flow of sweat …
