Langer Stein (Historic Boundary and Court Stone)

Highlight • Monument

The "Lange Stein" stands on the old elevated road Göllheim - Alsenborn and was formerly a place of justice for the Stauf rulers and a boundary stone (Sippersfeld - Rosenthal Monastery). Behind this big stone is a bench; another bench stands on the other side of this great crossroads.
As a judgment stone, it was "once surrounded by smaller stones that bore a cross as a sign of justice". Some of these smaller stones are still standing around this large stone. In this respect, it is reminiscent of Ramsen's "Stumpfwaldgericht".
The Long Stone is also an old boundary stone. It has the following characters on it:
FI = "Forêt impérial" comes from the French period (1789 to 1815)
KW = "Königswald" comes from the time when the Palatinate belonged to Bavaria (1816 - 1920)
Numbers = old landmark numbers
